Description

On May 25, 2020, Derek Chauvin, J. Alexander Kueng, Thomas Lane, and Tou Thao, were called to Cup Foods in Minneapolis to arrest George Floyd. George Floyd was then restrained and Chauvin kneeled on his neck for approximately 9 minutes and 30 seconds until Floyd died. Floyd’s murder sparked international outrage leading to protests and riots around the world with Minneapolis as an epicenter for the movement. His death has served as a call to justice for murdered People of Color as well as a call for police reform.
Chauvin’s trial for George Floyd’s murder began on March 8, 2021 with opening statements beginning on March 29, 2021.
