Description

Large, block, capital letters saying “Power to the People” dominate this mural. The letters of the word “people” also serve as a platform for four multi-racial figures to stand on, holding their right fist up in solidarity. The figures are wearing different colored clothing and hats, from right to left, red, green, purple, and yellow. The figures also wear alternating colored waist and arm bands associated with the other figures. The red clothed figures wears a purple waist band and arm bands with their waist band featuring the letter “w.” The green clothed figure also wears a purple waist band and arm bands with their waist band featuring the letter “o.” The purple clothed figure wears a yellow waist band and arm bands with their waist band featuring the letter “r.” Lastly, the yellow clothed figure wears a green waist band and arm bands with their waist band featuring the letter “e.” Together these letter spell the artist’s name “Wore.” The background of the mural is washed in red, white, and blue, the colors of the American flag. The artist’s handle @wore_one appears on the left corner of the mural and his signature “Wore!” is seen near the left, yellow dressed figure’s feet.
This mural was created as part of the project Shared Freedom Protest Art 2020 which took place in the East Village section of Manhattan from September 13th- November 3rd.
