Description
A mural in Madison, WI that was put up on plywood that was used to protect windows, some of which were destroyed during the uprising. This mural is about Black women. Two faces of Black women are visible on the sides of the mural; one has a gag over her mouth. Negative words and terms that are often used to describe Black women surround the faces. In the center in red, #ProtectBlackWomen is written. It is surrounded with two quotes, both from Audre Lorde. This mural points out that Black women are often ignored in the traditional canon. Their efforts are erased and there is often no one there to fight for them.
