We're Gonna Fight Racism w/ Solidarity
George Perry Floyd (October 14, 1973 - May 25, 2020) was a 46-year-old Black American man who was murdered by former Minneapolis Police Officer Derek Chauvin after Chauvin knelt on Floyd’s neck for nearly 9 minutes in the Powderhorn neighborhood of Minneapolis, Minnesota on May 25, 2020. Floyd’s murder sparked an international movement for Black Lives Matter, the largest civil rights movement of the century. On March 12, 2021, the city of Minneapolis agreed to pay $27 million to settle a wrongful death lawsuit brought by Floyd's family. On June 25, 2021, Chauvin was sentenced to 22.5 years in prison for his crimes.
Two works. Left: painting of George Floyd holding his daughter, Geonna Floyd. Her fist is in the air. They are framed by a blue heart with flowers around the border. Quote "George Floyd Decimos Que No Se Combate El Racismo Con Mas Racismo. Vamos A Combatir El Racismo Con Solidaridad. - Fred Hampton." Around the corner is a winged figure with long brown hair on a tricycle.
Right: quote by Fred Hampton on half blue, half yellow panel. "We say you don't fight racism with racism. We're gonna fight racism w/ solidarity."

The Revolution Will Not Be Televised
Abstract shapes, arms, and legs bust out from a television set, moving dynamically through space on this large mural that wraps around the side of the storefront.

From the artist's Instagram: "“The Revolution will not be Televised”
You will not be able to stay home.
You will not be able to plug in.
The revolution will not come to you.
This piece was inspired by the poet and musician Gill-Scott Heron.

The news is a curated platform, designed to tell a story. What is being reported, what you are hearing and watching is not “the Revolution.”
[The first change that takes place is in your mind. You have to change your mind before you change the way you live and the way you move. The thing that’s going to change people is something that nobody will ever be able to capture on film. It’s just something that you see and you’ll think, "Oh I’m on the wrong page," or “I’m on the right page but the wrong note. And I’ve got to get in sync with everyone else to find out what’s happening in this country."]

Strange Fruit
Two painted panels. The first has an image of a Black woman as a tree. Her neck and shoulder comprise the trunk and roots. Her hair is leaves with birds emerging from it. "Strange Fruit, Billie Holiday 1939," and music notes swirl through the wind around her.
The second panel has more birds in the air and grass along the bottom of the panel. "I hope you hear inside my voice of sorrow and that it motivates you to make a better tomorrow, Stevie Wonder 1973," is in the center. The blades of grass have the names of Black people killed by police on them.

Say Their Names, 2011-2012 | Bringing Back Bowery
The eye is immediately drawn to the rightmost edge of the plywood panel, where two large brown eyes emerge from a vivd red background. Underneath the eyes, budding trees are surrounded by discarded guns pointing upwards toward the sky.
In the center of the work, a quotation emerges from the unpainted plywood. The quote reads: "Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. - MLK #bemighty." Underneath the quote, to the left of the trees, a list of names emerges from a field of flowers. Outlined in green paint, a quick glance could lead the names to be mistaken as part of the greenery that blooms in the red.
The names are not all clear, but include: Nehemiah Dillard, 2012; Melvin Lawhorn, 2012; Marquez Smart, 2012; Michael Lembard, 2012; Tendai Mhekaira, 2012; Stephan Watts, 2012; Rekia Boyd, 2012; Johnnie Kamahi Warren, 2012; Malik Williams, 2011.
The names listed are all of Black individuals murdered by police officers in the years listed beside their names. This list is not a conclusive list of all Black people murdered in 2011-2012 by police.
