Black Lives Still Matter at El Norteno.
Initially, a small sign reading "Black Lives Matter" was in the window of this restaurant. (It is included in this database, identifier UAM-GF_0039). Four large and two small panels of plywood later covered that window, and five others, to protect the restaurant from looting and violence. What was originally a small sign therefore gave way to a multi-paneled work, larger in size and using two languages (English and Spanish). The message did not change, though; it only grew: Black Lives Matter. The restaurant is closed indefinitely.

Together We Will Defeat Racism / Al Racismo Lo Vencemos Juntos
The mural is posted on one side of the CLUES (Comunidades Latinas Unidas en Servicio) building on Lake Street. George Floyd's portrait is in the center, with the Minneapolis city skyline converted to raised fists representing his torso. Masked figures surround his shoulders and dark-complected hands wrap around his body. The background is sunny orange and yellow, with flowers at the bottom. The words "Together We Will Defeat Racism" and "Al Racismo Lo Vencemos Juntos" are written on the mural.

Two works. Left: painting of George Floyd holding his daughter, Geonna Floyd. Her fist is in the air. They are framed by a blue heart with flowers around the border. Quote "George Floyd Decimos Que No Se Combate El Racismo Con Mas Racismo. Vamos A Combatir El Racismo Con Solidaridad. - Fred Hampton." Around the corner is a winged figure with long brown hair on a tricycle.
Right: quote by Fred Hampton on half blue, half yellow panel. "We say you don't fight racism with racism. We're gonna fight racism w/ solidarity."
