On an all-white background, the poster depicts a black-and-white illustration of a Black child seated to the left and a white police officer in full riot gear to the right.
Crosslegged, the child has short curly hair and is dressed simply in an all-white short sleeve shirt and shorts. On the ground near the child's right hand are multiple crayons, which the child has used to draw flowers and a heart that reads "BLM" for Black Lives Matter. The crayons and the child's drawings offer the only pop of color in the image. The child extends their left hand up, offering to the police officer a hand drawn yellow flower with a simple green stem.

"People Have The Power" | Bringing Back Bowery
Coverage
The spatial or temporal topic of the resource, the spatial applicability of the resource, or the jurisdiction under which the resource is relevant
308 Bowery, New York, NY, 10012
Description
An account of the resource
A wash of white paint covers the majority of a plywood plank. A figure with green skin and short hair that blends with its facial stubble serves as the focal point of the mural. The figure is a cyclops, with a large, single eye with a blue iris, long orange nose, large pink lips, and yellow cheeks. In the upper right corner, on a yellow background, black lettering announces to the viewer: "People Have The Power".
The artist deliberately leaves two posters attached to the plywood visible: "Missing Person" posters for a Black woman named Sierra Coombs. 26 year old Coombs was reported missing by her family in Brooklyn, New York on June 5th, 2020. Coombs was found safely on July 13, 2020.
Black women who are reported missing are routinely ignored in news cycles. Without the aid of public awareness, families often struggle to find their loved ones. Although there are countless Black women whose names have not made it to social media, the circulation of Coombs name was widespread and may have resulted in her safe return to her family.

"Fist And Foremost, Rest In Peace George Floyd And All Other Souls That Have Died Unjustly Under The Hands Of THe Government. It Is A Tragedy And We Expect Our Gov To Handle It And Not Let Us Down Like The Many Times You Already Have, Not Just Here In This Country. You Brong Tyranny And Oppression All Over The World And You Flash Propaganda And Lies In Our Face To Make Them Look Like Enemies. You Take Their Opium And You Feed It To Our People As "Medicine." You Take Our Tax $ And You Murder Us And Then You Take Our Tax $ Again To Cover The Lawsuits Settlement...And AQUIT THE MURDERER... There's Only One Kind. Mankind... Love Is Love. We Shall Overcome.
"HOPE. PEACE BE UPON YOU."
"SAY THEIR NAMES"
"Stand For Something Fall For Nothing"
"Violence feeds violence. It's Okay To Be Sad, But Don't Despair, There's Always Hope."
Above the painted pages is a purple background. Along the bottoms is a red background. Someone has written in red spray-paint "The Red Represents Blood Shed" and "Fuck The System!" and "And Fuck A Microchip!" The latter message is written one one of the painted pages.
To the left of the mural is a stencil portrait of George Floyd. Purple graffiti around the portrait reads "RIP George Floyd. You Will Not Die In Vain."
Below the graffiti is a gray outline fist.

From the contributor: "My wife and I went downtown to photograph the protest art as we knew that it would not last (for a variety of reasons). The military was still on the streets, a curfew was still in place, and police were still assaulting innocent protestors. Columbus is the capitol of Ohio, so much of this was around the capitol building."

An account of the resource
The entrance to the occupied East Precinct in CHOP/CHAZ in Seattle. It's covered with art calling for funding for Black communities, defunding the police, ACAB, BLM, and equality.
The sign for the Seattle Police Department has been partially covered in graffiti, so it now reads "Seattle People Department."
